As some of you may know, I am a member of the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary in metro Atlanta. Our annual fundraiser – the Kettle Krush 5K run/walk – was originally scheduled for May 16 in Piedmont Park. Due to the current COVID-19 situation we are currently experiencing and because The Salvation Army needs our financial support more than ever to help “krush” poverty, homelessness, sex trafficking and support veterans and youth enrichment, we are changing our fundraiser plans!

SAWA will hold a Kettle Krush 5K “Race in Place” event on May 16 on Facebook Live beginning at 9 a.m. You can tune into this event at www.facebook.com/KKAtlanta5K from the comfort of your own home! No running or walking is required to participate.

Anyone can participate and possibly win awards in this event and support a great cause! By signing up for our event, all participants in our “Race in Place” event will be entered into a drawing for Kettle Krush awards, and anyone can win the top overall male and female prizes. In addition, we’ll draw for top two masters winners (M&F) and top 3 winners in 16 age categories. The top 2 teams with the most registered participants (minimum 10 registrants) will also win special prizes. This is just a fun, creative way to support the Salvation Army during these difficult times!

In addition, all participants will receive a commemorative “Race in Place” T-shirt and have a chance to win special, donated prizes (i.e. Georgia Aquarium tickets, Big Peach gift certificates, and Home Depot goodies). You can also use #KettleKrushRaceinPlace by 5/14 to show us the creative ways you are racing in place before our FB broadcast. Again, no running or walking is required!
